Pickle Brine

A brine I needed for a recipe and I had no pickles.

Ingredients

  • 227 grams water (1 cup)
  • 303 grams white vinegar (1⅓ cups)
  • 12 grams sugar (1 tablespoon) (optional)
  • 8-16 grams kosher salt (1-2 tablespoons)
  • 6-12 grams dill seed (1-2 tablespoons)
  • 5 grams garlic powder (1 teaspoon)
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in a small pot.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce and simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  • Turn off, remove from heat, let cool.
