The Perfect Martini

I just learned that today is National Martini Day. So…..

Ingredients

  • 2 – 3 oz. gin 1 2
  • 1/2-1 oz. good vodka 3
  • 1 tsp. dry vermouth 4
  • 1 drop Angostura bitters
  • 1 drop lemon bitters (optional)
  • 3 large ice cubes 5
  • Olives (rinsed), cocktail onions, or strip of lemon peel

Instructions

  1. Add the vermouth and bitters to a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add the ice cubes.
  3. Add the vodka and gin.
  4. Swirl, not shake, for 5-10 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass.
  5. Garnish with olives, onions, or lemon peel.
  6. Enjoy in moderation.

Notes

  1. Bombay Sapphire recommended. Bertha’s Revenge if you can get it.
  2. Keep it in the freezer like a civilized person.
  3. Keep it in the freezer, too.
  4. Dolin or Martini & Rossi
  5. If you use crushed ice you deserve the crappy Martini you’ll get
