Theme
The theme I’m using is, appropriately enough, called Foodie Blog and is created by Theme Everest. There are a ton of food and cooking themes out there, some with very nice recipe-entry forms, but the UI for entering recipes…well…they sucked. I’ve got things in documents and scraps of paper and entering each line item separately was awful — 1, tab, select tsp, tab, enter item name, no way to enter notes or comments about item, etc. Also, not compatible with anything else, so if they change the way the theme works it could lose or screw up what I’m storing. So this is really just a light-weight theme and I’m entering each recipe or entry as just an entry with a list.
I’ve tweaked the theme a bit with some CSS modifications but nothing major.1
Plugins
Shout out to Easy Footnotes for, well, easy footnotes. Not much more to say about that.
Hosting
Hosting is provided by Bluehost. I’ve been using Bluehost for years for a variety of websites and they’ve always done a great job. Best part is that they include some of the best spam filtering around — SpamExperts. Catches and stops all kinds of craps. Learns. And can be trained, too.
Ads
It doesn’t cost a lot to run this. Sure, I’d love to get rich, but I’m not going to do it cluttering up the site with ads. If you’d like to send me a couple of bucks toward keeping this going and improving it, let me know.
