I love my dog. I don’t always love her breath. Pictures soon.
Parsley and Mint Dog Treats
A breath freshener
Ingredients
- 104 grams oat flour (1 cup)
- 1 egg
- ~57 grams unsweetened applesauce (¼ cup)
- 2 tablespoons fresh curly parsley, chopped fine
- 1 teaspoon fresh mint, chopped fine
Instructions
- Heat your oven to 350℉ / 175℃
- In a bowl combine the oat flour (104g) and egg. It'll probably be pretty stiff. Add the applesauce a tablespoon at a time until a workable but not sloppy dough forms
- Add the parsley and mint and mix until well distributed.
- If the dough is crumbly, add a little more applesauce. If it's slop, add flour a tablespoon at a time.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out to ¼" thickness.
- Using a cookie cutter for shapes or just a bench knife, cut to desired size and distribute on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes. Edges should be a bit golden and middles set.
- Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
Notes
- You have to get curly parsley. The other type, called ‘flat leaf’ or ‘Italian,’ evidently can be bad for dogs. Curly parsley is the ugly stuff they used to put on the side of your plate.
- I suck at rolling, but this rolling pin with thickness rings helps.
